Chip George is the senior director of state and local government and education (SLED) for NetApp. In this role, Chip is responsible for the field alignment of over 100 sales, engineering, channel, program capture, and marketing team members dedicated to the creation and execution of NetApp’s SLED strategy. Chip and his team serve the unique data storage and data management needs of state government, local government, higher education, K-12, and teaching hospitals.
Prior to this Chip held multiple roles within NetApp’s Department of Defense (DoD) team, including Senior Director and sales leader for the last 3 years. During that span NetApp established an enormous presence in numerous DoD programs, becoming an integral part of the DoD mission around the world and earning the position as the clear data storage market share leader in DoD. Before that Chip led the Army team for 7 years, first as the Global Enterprise Manager and then as the District Manager. During this time the Army became one of NetApp’s top 3 accounts, and the #1 account in NetApp Public Sector.
Before NetApp Chip spent 9 years as a sales executive in the telecomm sector as a sales rep, manager, and then director managing business in both the government and commercial space. Chip started his career in the United States Navy as a Nuclear Submarine Officer on the USS Philadelphia (SSN 690) after earning a degree in Systems Engineering from the University of Virginia.
